On the 8th of August in 2016, this group released their first album, which was labelled Square One and included the song title "Whistle" which was a great hit and instantly became a great hit as well as another song called "Boombayah" which instantly became a hit on the Billboard World Digital Songs list. As such they received a great award known as "New Artist of the year" during the 31st Golden Disc Awards as well as the 26th Seoul Music Award show.

With the plan for 2020 in the year ahead, Blackpink leaves 2019 as the highest ranking all female Kpop band in gross sales for Kill this love. These gorgeous girls ranked 41st on the Billboard Hot 100 and 24th on the Billboard 200 lists, helping break the Official Kpop industry into mainstream media. They are also the only all-female Kpop girl group that has been recognised in Billboard's Emerging Artists chart, a highly prestigious honour. They also have had four number one singles on the Billboard's World Digital Song Sales chart and broke a youtube record as the most viewed video that is a Korean music video in 24 hours with their Ddu-du Ddu-du which was released early January 2019. There is a lot in store for the girls in 2020 with new songs, new dances and new covers during their concerts. We can't wait to see what they will bring their BLINK fans this year.
